Let go of my CD!

I recently discovered an online comic called xkcd, and I must say it is hilarious. A lot of the jokes are things that would only be funny to programmers, but I think anyone can appreciate this one. I enjoyed many others from that strip about turing tests, sysfaults, compiling, imaginary kilobyte denotations, and many other topics, but I doubt you'd be as interested in those if you're part of my normal readership (aka, other writers).

The programmer in the cube next to mine kept posting "comics" from that particular Web site on the outter wall of his cube.

Of course, they are all written in the argot of programmers and make no sense to 99% of the people who walked by his cube.

"Dude," I told him, "You keep posting sh!t like this on your cube wall? One day you're going key into your house and find your entire family sitting in your family room, looking forlorn. You're headed for a Nerd Intervention."

Haha, well I think every profession has its own lingo. SASE? Manuscript? POD? Sub rights? Slush pile? Someone should do a comic full of inside jokes about those things, perhaps...

I'm glad you've discovered this ... if I'd known you hadn't come across it before, I would have recommended it :) Just hilarious.

Have you come across the YouTube series 'The Guild'? Further geeky humour. You might enjoy it.

I've actually seen some xkcd comics over the years (coworkers, Techrepublic, etc), but I never realized they were all from one strip. I certainly have it on my RSS list now!

Thanks for the link to 'The Guild' -- I watched the first couple of episodes, and those were indeed quite humorous. The stalker guy plot-line is kind of disturbing, though!
